Shut Eye

Sup homies

So my "stats" show that people still look at my blog even though I haven't posted since October...strange, not sure how that happens, and not sure that what I posted was even exciting enough to elicit an audience, so thanks, whoever you are! (Let's be honest: Thanks larger-internet-powers that cite my URL as link-worthy!) Sorry that this is a terribly boring blog and at this point is more of an archive/artifact/should be in a museum display of 2011 technology!

But I figured since this still drives traffic and I'm up from my "I hate the internet" slump, I may as well share my new music video here. I made it for the band Stealing Sheep, who as you might know I've worked with a couple times before, and it's for their new single "Shut Eye." It's a great song and will literally put you in a trance for months and hypnotize you into making a stop motion animation. They're like Sirens. It's kind of scary....

It's already garnered one "dislike" on Youtube--don't let that one poor soul be the last to dislike! Isn't it nice how youtube allows space for a "dialogue"? One should never feel pathetic for partaking in a youtube dialogue or even reading a youtube war. Because really, it just makes you an anthropologist,--just like getting a Bachelors degree does.

This was fun--I might even post again this year! But really, thanks people who think this was, in its heyday, was cool or interesting or whatever you thought (maybe everyone just comes here to laugh at it! pointing fingers and laughing! at least i could make you laugh...) blog. I hope you enjoy the video and listen to Stealing Sheep's really dope music.

animals

For the last year or so, I've been dying to get a cat. I filmed a video with a friend in Montreal, and her beautiful white kitty, Ambrose, acted in our video and he ruled. But besides being the Brando of cat actors, he was terribly cute and snuggly and wonderful.
And I want one.
BUttttTTTT I don't feel comfortable getting a pet until I can afford the pay for the vet in the event of pet illness.
 (Though I am highly considering getting a tiny turtle...they don't get sick...right?)
So, as a college student who doesn't own a pet, and doesn't have any friends who own pets (I know, this is so so horrifying), you can imagine the complete elation I felt this afternoon when I went to these stables.
At first I was scared to touch the horses (I'm never really been a horse person), but then after spending two hours there, I was feeling comfortable and snuggly! So much, in fact, that when we left and a Jack Russell Terrier came charging at us, I was ready and not scared at all! Instead of reaching out a quivering finger to pet his little head, I rubbed his head and let him lick my hand.
Why am I so afraid of Jack Russell Terriers, you ask?
Well, I have been jittery around all animals for a little while now, but mainly Jack Russells because my family has one (named Switch. After a box of light switches. Found in an alley. By her former owners. Who were dog abusers.) and as one could guess form that parenthetical phrase, she is a bit jittery. Since I'm not home a lot, she sometimes gets confused about who I am, and these last few times I've been there she has done this horrible thing where she lures me in by laying down for me to pet ehr stomach and then will SNAP at me and BARK a lot and it is scary and mean! And if you're thinking "Rivkah, maybe you are hurting her in some way," well you are wrong!
I guess...today was some kind of breakthrough. Or just a really nice day.

"This is For You" (but I need your help...)

Seeing as the last time i posted was...(*checks watch, because apparently watches tell things like this*)....August 20th, it is not strange you might have thought that I might have died. Gotchya! I'm alive! Alive and well, in fact. I survived the tour, which was the best, and we are so lucky we got to do it. Spend all day in a van, traveling the country, with 6 people you love, and finish the day playing music together. It's pretty great...

And now I am back at school, in good ol' Saratogy. I just spent a terribly long and painful week writing grants, artist statements and making a kickstarter for an exhibition I have coming up. And its going to be cool, guys!

If you think it looks cool, consider donating! Even a dollar will be greatly appreciated! Check out the rewards and stuff. I you don't know anything about kickstarter, its a pretty cool organization--a fund raising website for the arts! and there is this whole rewards system thats pretty dope. Check it out, there are some really cool projects out there!

I had to make a "business" in order to launch the kickstarter, which made me laugh a lot. I laughed harder after I named my business "Money For Art". I mean, that is the point, isn't it?

I've been making some stickers as of late and putting them up around my school. its been super fun getting into that again! Plus it is a very productive way to procrastinate.

Have a lovely weekend!
